The Tiller Girl is a beautifully re-imagined folk tale from medieval Italy. A story of the power of a brave and true heart and the unexpected rewards reaped through selfless generosity.
Filmed in one take as a live storytelling performance, the footage then began its creative journey to develop into this film. Combining words, cinematography and music (from medieval to the present day, performed on early and modern instruments), it is simply a feast for the senses.
“So improvisatory and spontaneous. Very very exciting.” BBC Radio 3, Sean Rafferty
“Magical and virtuosic harps.”

Wednesday 2 September 2020
Zoom
Southern Early Music Forum presents “When David Heard” - the death of Prince Henry 1612: An illustrated talk by Patrick Craig with music by Byrd, Tomkins, Weelkes, Gibbons and Ramsey.
When the eighteen-year-old heir to the throne, Prince Henry, died suddenly after an unwise dip in the Thames in 1612, the country mourned the loss of a potentially brilliant monarch. Musical grief poured out from the composers of the day led by William Byrd but also featuring Tomkins, Weelkes, Gibbons and Ramsey. “When David heard” was the text most expressively set, and Patrick will conclude with an overview of other settings, including those by Josquin and Gombert.
Minimum charge of £5 to attend.
