Rachel Gray
Cello
Cellist Rachel Gray studied music at University of York, specialising in period instrument performance during postgraduate studies, her teachers including Ioan Davies and Jennifer Ward Clarke. She plays principal cello with Yorkshire Baroque Soloists and Manchester Baroque; other ensembles include 18th Century Concert Orchestra, I Fagiolini, Concert Royal, Haydn Festival Orchestra and Newcastle Baroque. She has recorded both Bach’s Passions and B minor Mass with Yorkshire Baroque Soloists and several chamber works with Concert Royal. She is also an experienced music educator at both school and university levels and particularly enjoys coaching chamber music, co-directing University of York Baroque Ensemble for many years.
